I’m sure that it’s still an issue this year. So yeah, at this point it’s still ongoing and I think another, I guess like hot button topic on campus is food on campus, which has been a challenge and it’s talked about last year. I feel like that we really need for those prospective students who are wanting to learn English as a second language. Maybe also we could provide refreshments through the funding that we have and another thing which, like Emily is pretty good at is like doing campus tours. So adult basic skills, from what I know, they, they have an intake process before the start of the term, before the start of every term, right? And so what what I want is for the team to to help support them with, like, merch bags, you know, like goodie bags, things that they can take away, like a backpack with, like a school supply kit, that sort of thing. And what we’re wanting to do, like my vision is basically to support what’s already happening. So at this point it’s in the preparation stages. And so at this point we’re preparing for the intake process, which happens before spring term.
Is that science ongoing, or like what does that collaboration look like between HCC and those programs? Yeah, So I met with Jenny at the start of the term, and so she had suggested that I set up meetings with like the faculty over at the Adult Basic Skills. BUSSEY So how’s that collaboration going? And part of that was co-hosting seminars to help the community with intake for Guardian ESL classes. And another goal that was set is collaboration with adult based on skills and transitions and transit transitions. You know, and then like another pretty special thing about this year is we’ve connected with our sister campuses, Maywood and Bruning, and we’re able to visit them last term and let them know about what’s going on at the main campus and also put up posters there for events.Īnd so we’re we’re aiming to do that this term and next term as well, like keep that up. So if there’s any events that Student Life is hosting, then our team is the one that goes out and puts up posters and and we keep things up to date. Like part of our job on the team is to put up posters. I think that’s besides like the emails that obviously Doctor sends out to tell the students we try and do our best to kind of give students information about any upcoming events or any, like resources that are available on campus. And so that’s another way we kind of see our information. We have our team do it for those who have both in person as well as online classes. Another thing that we also kind of do is we do we have our members do class reps, which is basically where they would go to their classes and kind of as their instructor for permission to kind of announce some of the upcoming events that we have or any information on that students should know. So those are ways where we’re letting students know about, you know, the different resources on campus, the different like clubs and groups that they can join. But we we have been able to like, get students information about resources on campus and like the different clubs that they can join because AC DC hosts like a resource fair as well as like a club fair every term. We definitely want to accomplish that goal. How is that going in terms of even if it’s not the Barney broadcast disseminating information to the campus community. One of the first ones that was mentioned is the Barney Broadcast, which. But I just want to go down and see how some of these goals are doing.
I don’t know if they were jointly I wasn’t there in the room. But the first thing I want to touch on is last year when both of you won the elections, both of you set some goals or goals. You know, but thank you for y’all agreeing to do the interview, first of all. The following interview was transcribed with A.I. The Interview was between Kane Finders, News Editor, and the ASMHCC President and Vice President, Javier Estrada and Emily Phoun.
